overdue. The population of Connellsville is shrinking as is the tax base. No to little new new construction. This last year how many houses are lost to age, fire, and recent flooding? They aren't getting rebuilt. Drugs and unemployment are reducing the town to shreds. For every new business that opens we have been losing one. The school board needs to close schools and consolidate resources and reduce costs. If they don't inevitably higher taxes will speed the decline. Mayor and council need to tell the residents the truth about the condition of the community. They just keep looking at the community through rose-colored glasses. Its fine to be optimistic but critical that community leaders keep their head and not be disillusion.
