East Park Events 60s Thursday Evenings Please share your memories of the Thursday evening events during the late 60s. There were bands, contests, fireworks. Lots of teens, always crowded.
With memories fading after so many years, recalling the shows at East Park is still pleasant. I am trying to remember the name of the slender young man in his black suit, possibly a tux, singing "The last time I saw Paris". With world war II a not so distant memory, it brought this sentimental youngster close to tears. Strange that after so many nights spent at east Park shows that this one memory remains so strong. My uncle worked at the concession stand where we bought our soft drinks and ice creams. Even then, there was a little vandalism, but again, as I remember, most of it involved the concession stand or the tunnel. My older brother loved the ice skating when the park was flooded in the winter. Great memories from a time before TV took over and video games were beyond imagination. They were great times.
