I am from Connellsville. I grew up on the south side on chestnut st. I graduated from college and moved to lake tahoe to persue a career in marketing. I just wanted to be reminded of what home looked like. I would appreciate more pictures of the river and the trees in the fall when the colors are in their prime. :)

Just wanted to say Connellsville is nice to look at, but please don't move there. I had to leave my home place of C'ville because someone raped and abused my kids and after my kids he raped and sodomised another woman's child giving both mom and daughter a S.T.D. and he never got charged because he passed a polygraph test despite the fact he was in and out of mental hospitals for a split personallity. Please don't move there because he's walking the streets of C'ville if you do may god protect your

Ilived in cnvl till age 13. We lived on springfield pike about a mile from brimstone corners. Father built brick home there. Moved from there to duplex 1/4 mile down hill. Moved to pearl steet, then to vine street. Best friend was charlie Light. Went to Rockridge country school and also the jr hi school downtown. Haven't visited lately because no more family is there. We knew Dr campbel and family, Coughenauers who owned cleaners, jim lucky at drug store, whipkeys and Nicholsons on Springfield Pike. Barbara and Martha hood were my cousins and also moved from Cnvl some time ago. Also remember Gary Finellio from childhood. Curious if any one knows any of these families and can Email me with info.

I just wanted to say that the pages look great. I enjoyed looking through the pictures and seeing Connellsville in an earlier time. I would like to make a suggestion though. It's about genealogy. It would be really nice to do a type of census for the town and get it up online and have family trees. I have been searching my family tree for a long time and I know for people who are seaching, if they could find something within their town would be a big help!

My father, Ted and mother Ann (Rusinko) were raised in Leisenring #1. Have tipped off the rest of the caln to your site. Best wishes. . .

FINALLY! After promising to update our restaurant's Website as long ago as February it has been done. Photos have been added to the menu pages and improved on the "Pictures" pages. The quality of the original scuba photos have been improved and a second page of scuba photos has been added. We think you will like the improvements. As these are high resolution photos they will take several minutes to download depending upon the speed of your modem. Please be patient. Anyone inputting comments in our guestbook is appreciated but, we are unable to respond as these comments do not include an e-mail address. If you would like to have a response please address your comments or questions to the "Contact us" section of the main page. This weekend a lady who was raised in my almost-100 year old house, came to visit. We had a nice talk and I learned even more about its history. I would be interested in talking to anyone who has ANY information on this house, from the building of it, to when the Greenhouses surrounded it and so on. Anything would be interesting. My house, 109 East Washington Avenue, Connellsville, was built in 1907 by WD McGuinness. He was an editor for the local newspaper and he built this orange brick house for his wife. The third floor was quarters for a maid/nanny. They would ask around the coal patch towns for young ladies who would like to live in the city. There is still a "doorbell" that I guess was used to call the nanny. DeMuth's lived here awhile and there were greenhouses in an "L" shape around it. That was maybe the 30's-40's.My back yard has much evidence of glass and pottery. This is just a small amount of info on this house. Anyone who has info or especially photographs of this house or area--I would LOVE to see them. My email is nlhrabak@helicon.net. Love to hear from anyone!!

Connellsville would not play Johnstown in football because both teams were undefeated, but Connellsville had more poll points than Johnstown, so to Play Johnstown they felt theyy had nothing to gain and everything to lose. They didn't play. Then Connellsville failed to win their final scheduled game and Johnstown went on to Beat Mount Lebanon 7-0 for the WPIAL championship.--that's why'

Its been over 6 months since I posted about Harold Betters not being on here, and you still havent put anything up! I agree, there might be more important things about Connellsville. Maybe about coke, or some other natural resources we might have. But what would people rather see, rocks or a human being, who has lived her for a long time, who has accomplished so much, who has spread jazz throughout Connellsville. Whoever runs this site should put something up about him. Its a shame that he wasnt one of the first things put up about Connellsville.

Good Morning! Stole a few minutes to review the entries on the guestbook. I have been busy and neglectful in my e-mail correspondence. To my e-mail buddies please send me a little note so we can catch up. I need a nudge. Can you believe it! I am still getting messages about Swan's Drug Store. I am enjoying them still. I wonder if my sister Lu has connected with her friend who was looking for her, Jan P? Hope so! Best wishes to all!

My wife and I had the pleasure of passing through Connellsville last week when we were on our way to see the Frank Lloyd Wright house. I must say that not only is it a beautiful little city to visit, but it beckons one to stay there for an indefinite period of time. Coming from someone who lives in San Diego California, that is really saying something. I look forward to visiting there again in a year or two.

My grandparents were born & raised in Connellsville. My grandfather, Paul Hanlon was born in 1907 and died in 1994. He was a coal miner for many years. My grandmother, LaVern Miller (Hanlon) was a school teacher and grew up in South Connellsville. My great uncle Mark Hanlon was a tax collector for many years. All of the Hanlons are buried in St. Joseph's Cemetary. I still have relatives living in Connellsville today. My Great Aunt Kathryn Miller, wife of the late Ralph Miller, still lives in S. Connellsville, right next door to the house my grandmother grew up in. I remember staying there when I was a little girl & hearing the fire station sirens go off! My grandfather lived in the Burns' house after they were all deceased (on Crawford). I have so many wonderful memories of Connellsville. I love to go back whenever I can. I love to remember all the stories my grandfather told me about growing up there. My second cousin Kirk Hanlon and his family also still reside on Crawford (Hi Kirk). I will absolutely visit this web site again soon. If anyone has any info on the Hanlon family please e-mail me, or if they would just like to share a memory. My mother, Carole (Hanlon) Brushwood would like me to mention how mush she loves this little town, too!!!

My grandparents (Julia McMullen (Ronzio) and Joseph (Leroy) McMullen) were both born and raised in Connellsville. My grandmother on Limestone Hill - I am not sure where my grandfather lived. Both their families have a long history in Connellsville. My mother was also born in Connellsville. They moved to Philadelphia but returned to live in Connellsville when they retired. My grandfather died in October 1993 and my grandmother in June 1999. Both are buried in Chestnut Hill Cemetary in Connellsville. They wanted their final resting place to be the place they always considered home. My great-grandmother and many great-aunts and uncles are also buried there. I return often to visit them all. I always enjoyed my visits to the area and hope someday to bring my own children to Connellsville where there is so much family history. I still have a few distant relatives living there.
